COURSE CONTENT AND CONCEPTS :
COURSE HOSTED ON PATHWRIGHT - NEW VIDEO AND VOICE RECORDINGS EVERY TUESDAY ACCOMPANIED BY READINGS, WRITING PROMPTS, AND WORKSHEETS
FACEBOOK GROUP FOR CONTINUED DISCUSSION - PLUS A BONUS FIFTH TUESDAY OF INTEGRATION
WEEK ONE : daily practice and ritual
We will work to set up daily and weekly habits to practice throughout the course that you will be able to integrate after we are finished - PLUS you have a whole host of new stranger friends to hold you accountable through the process.
In my own research I have found that having daily practices, weekly rituals, and habits I seek to do on time and as promised to self - has brought great consistency to an otherwise difficult existence. We will share these projects and goals with each other in an effort of community accountability. We will pick some to keep private and some to make public - and we always have the right to change our mind!
WEEK TWO : finding the comfort in mystery
Our most frustrating mysteries - what about ourselves, our world, our relationships, our beings - feel the most mysterious?
We will discover, invent, and share practices with each other for how we return to ourselves, return to our center. How to find ourselves again and again as we get off track
This is where we will get to writing longer pieces to share with each other - you will have the option to get feedback from the group or share without feedback!
WEEK THREE : self forgiveness as a practice : everything is a sunset
How do we return to our practice not if, but when we get off track? This week we’ll check in on how our daily practices have been going for the first two weeks, and consider where we need to pivot. Through integrating rituals with plants, movement, and intersections of noticing where the veil is thin - WE WILL RISE ABOVE our self hatred and find where we can be incredibly nice to ourselves when we are off the intended path.
Also we can invent new paths this week around our creativity, habits, and rituals. What is working? What isn’t working? and WHY!
How can needing to pivot, beginning again, and starting over be our greatest teacher - a true friend in the path of creation. We will identify what triggers these feeling of self doubt and creative paralyzation so we can close the gap on creative and emotional relapses.
WEEK FOUR : sharing our findings in public form
Let’s take these lessons and share them with the people! It is our divine responsibility to show up, channel what the universe/great spirit/god*/earth has to offer of us, process it, and hand it back to our listeners, friends, fans, followers, and hopeful readers.
This is where we hit the YES button - where we unapologetically step into our mysterious and ever changing selves for the whole world to see
This week we’ll also see what the benefits were to keeping some thing secret and sacred, maybe you want those to not be anymore! Sometimes just keeping the PROCESS a secret is enough
TESTIMONIALS FROM PAST ONLINE COURSE STUDENTS
Creativity and Permission provided a much needed container for the inner work I had been avoiding. The simple writing prompts and group exercises held me accountable which enabled me to overcome so much self-doubt and procrastination. What I appreciate most about Marlee's teaching techniques and course structure are that they are designed for longevity. She does not claim to have "quick fixes for creative blocks!" but rather offers radical ways to build and shift and notice and change at the pace of compassion and joy. I am happily still discovering that the multifaceted lessons from her class are percolating through my practice to this day.
Ellen Rutt, artist
Creativity and trust was a transformative experience for me. As someone actively involved in the entrepreneurship space, which has a lot of "yang" energy (hustling, figuring things out, getting it done, etc.), I really enjoyed the "yin" energy of being in a supportive community of creatives and the overall experience of exploration that the course provided. The loose flow of the course provided structure and useful exercises while allowing for freedom, movement, and creativity, and I was really able to soften into the work. It helped me reframe some areas where I was stock, be more comfortable with the unknown, and take the pressure off my creative work. It was an invaluable experience for me, and I recommend highly Marlee's work and approach!

MORE ABOUT THIS COURSE AND WHAT TO EXPECT :
Each week there are long form writing prompts, as well as exercises for building daily practice into your life. The group is actively facilitated by Marlee with pre recorded videos and voice recordings available each week alongside writing prompts, creative activity homework, and worksheets. Your individual writing will not have personal feedback from Marlee, however you will have an opportunity to share with your fellow participants what you’re working on with the option to receive feedback or not. You also have the option of adding a one on one creative advising session to do with Marlee at the course’s completion to review your writing or future projects!
We will also work towards self publishing in our final week : a zine, a podcast, a comic, a way to share YOUR PERSONAL MYSTERY. We can turn our aversion to the unknown into our greatest gift to be of service to others. We will also choose parts of our practice from the workshop to keep sacred.
If you took Creativity and Permission - this is a way to invest further into turning your practice into shareable work, as well as specifically tune in to what you want to look at in your inner self. It’s about bringing your light to the surface and not being afraid to spread it. It’s about doing all of the above even if you don’t think you’re good enough, especially if you don’t think you’re good enough.
The transition into autumn is my favorite time of year, and I especially look forward to seeing what is revealed in this season with all of you. What is ready to come out of us and into the world. Also there are surprises in store each week from me to you!
This course is 4 weeks in length, actively facilitated by Marlee, and is a $195 investment - THERE ARE A LIMITED NUMBER OF PAYMENT PLANS (for anyone) AND SCHOLARSHIPS FOR BIPOC AND TRANS/GNC FOLKS - please email email@example.com if you need financial assistance with the subject line SCHOLARSHIP or PAYMENT PLAN
If you would like additional guidance and to add on a one on one advising session (these are only available upon enrollment and are limited!) the total investment is $333
All materials are downloadable so you can always access them, however please back up your own writing work in a google drive.
There is also a separate discussion group to talk about idea sharing, trouble shooting, and sharing daily inspirations

WHO THIS CLASS IS FOR :
To take this class you just have to be a breathing person in a human body with a willingess to dig deep and an optimistic spirit. Or actually you can be pessimistic as fuck and still take the class and I bet that when it is done an ounce of optimism will have returned for you.
This class is for artists looking to beam brighter, small business owners who are so consumed with work they've forgotten the importance of art making, movement teachers who want to reconnect to why they teach such an ephemeral form, corporate techies who need a reminder why making art and not making money from it is STILL VALID, anyone frustrated by capitalism and it's effect on our self worth, humans looking for my specific guidance and outlook on the practice of being alive and making art!
This class has been built from my work with one on one clients over the past four years, seven years of being my own boss, thirty one years of aliveness, eight years of a daily practice of not taking a drink, a decade of spiritual practice and witchcraft, and a whole lot of HOPE around daily ritual and writing as as a way of processing, healing, and transforming ourselves and the world.
You do not have to identify as an artist or a business owner or a writer, but when we are finished you might want to be all of those things! Or if you already identify as those things but want to radiate farther and have a greater impact, then this course is for you. This impact could be on the world at large, or just in your kitchen.
For anyone at the beginning stages of building a business around their personal narrative
For an artist who wants to love themselves more
WHO THIS CLASS IS NOT FOR :
If you are trying to get higher profit margins or create a $300,000 online workshop launch this probably isn't the class for you. However it might be just what you need to believe in yourself enough to try something like that :)
If you think I am not very funny or my art is stupid you probably won't want to take this class. If you want someone with an MFA in art to teach you that is not me. If you want someone to teach you in real time, that is not this class. If you want a one on one experience with me this is also not the course - although there may be times I interact in the discussion - this is an independent study! However you may book a one on one session with me in addition to the class!
MY BELIEF AND HOPE IN THIS COURSE'S IMPACT :
I really believe in this work, the work of showing up for ourselves and our art practice or small business, OUR HABITS as a form of resistance and resilience - and how we can use this act of self care and self commitment to leverage our commitment to our families and communities.
All class materials can be downloaded off the Pathwright website but the responses and platform access itself expires after 3 months
