Center is the practice of inviting, and being invited.
Center is the relationships that emerge between guest and host.
Center is new.
Center is undetermined.

Center is going to unfold and shape itself with each moment of invitation. In the future, Center might be an artist residency that I host in my town, a workshop series that I teach in another town, a small press, a dinner, a party, or a hike. It may look like my work, or it may look like someone else’s work, or it may look like a collaborative effort. Sometimes it will look like regular life.

I’m not sure what Center is yet, but in November it was a DIY artist residency where I hosting my friends Bobby and Billy for ten days while they made a music video in California.

I also hosted a workshop series in Pittsburgh, Grand Rapids, and Mendocino titled "Creativity in the Dark Season" where I had a cohost for each one and presented ideas for better existence around life and art making in the winter months.  My cohosts were Atiya Jones and Kevin Clancy, Sarah Fontaine, and Liz Migliorelli.

Center may also exist in the form of an interview series, talk show, or advice column.
